Jr. Pens Take on Binghamton Freeze in a Fun Showcase Game — February 22, 2026

The Jr. Pens 14U A squad made the trip up to Vestal, NY on Sunday, February 22nd for a special showcase game against the Binghamton Freeze U14 AA at The Farm Rink — a unique and intimate venue that made for a great atmosphere and a memorable afternoon of hockey.

The Jr. Pens came out strong, jumping out to a 2–1 lead after the first period on goals from Owen Tost (assisted by Max Bartal and Mason Kelly) and an unassisted tally from Kelly himself. The Freeze battled back to tie it up 2–2 in the second period, and ultimately edged the Jr. Pens 3–2 in a tight, competitive third period. Gavin Kravulski and Nathan Zubick shared goaltending duties, combining for 21 saves on 24 shots faced. The Freeze outshot the Jr. Pens 24–20, keeping both goalies sharp throughout the game.

Mason Kelly was named Player of the Game for his two-point effort, bringing energy and leadership in all three periods. The overall takeaway from the coaching staff was overwhelmingly positive — great atmosphere, great effort, and the boys even debuted some fun new jerseys for the occasion. While the Jr. Pens came up one goal short, there were plenty of positives to take away heading into the postseason stretch. These kinds of experiences — competing in new venues against quality opponents — are exactly what help a young team grow. Go Jr. Pens!
